Brighton Cat Killer Caught On Video Attacking A Cat Led To Conviction For Killing Nine & Stabbing Seven
Lewes Crown Court in Chichester found Steve Bouquet, 54, guilty of criminal damage and possession of a knife.
Bouquet, a security guard and former Royal Navy seaman, went on an eight-month rampage slaying pets. He managed to evade the police until he made a mistake that led to his arrest.
During the spree of killing nine and injuring seven cats, CCTV shows the moment Bouquet knifed Hendrix the cat.
In a narrow alley between Church Street and North Road in Brighton, a camera installed by another victim’s owner captured the footage. It shows Bouquet leaning to stroke Hendrix, then pulling a knife from his backpack and stabbing the cat.
After being arrested, the police found a knife contaminated with feline blood in his kitchen. Also, his phone revealed that he searched for and copied news articles of the attacks. There was a photo of a dead cat too. Plus, his phone data placed him in the area at the time of the attacks.
Bouquet got convicted of damaging and destroying property. He is due to be sentenced, which could see him spend time in jail.
The sentencing will account for the suffering caused to the cats and the trauma to their owners. Plus, the community worry as concerns over a serial cat killer spread.
