A security guard in Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow, Essex supported a mental health patient with showering.
While on a shift in the A&E department, the security guard was required to help a patient shower due to the lack of staff. However, it is claimed the NHS trust did not manage risks to safeguard mental ill patients.
Apparently, there wasn’t a completed risk assessment and no assurances the security guard was trained to support a patient.
Security guard services offer and supply many duties but we are trained to do so. I’m sure this security guard could see help was needed and stepped in but where would they stand if something went wrong?
